“The Collector’s apprentice” is Pepe Cobo’s new project.
This project consists in the
online launch of small collections formed by the work of six emerging artists, which will be represented in the collection by five works
valued between 1000 y 3000 € and which will succeed each other throughout the year.
Each collection will be conceived with
curatorial coherence and international relevance, making the most of the web’s transnational character to gather emerging artists from different parts of the globe in this virtual collection.
The artists are selected according to the interest and quality of their work, regardless of the market representation their work might have or not currently.
The idea is
to promote young art amongst young collectors through a collection conceived by an expert advisor of prestigious private institutional collections,
bringing young entrepreneurs interested in art closer to artists which, both age wise and price-wise, are closer to them.
The project comes into being in which the importance of auction houses grows out of proportion and the market wagers for safe values.
While the market value of renowned artists and historical landmarks grows, the market space devoted to young and emerging art diminishes.
The artists that will compromise the first collection are:
Inês Rebelo, Diango Hernandez, Julia Hyde, Keiko Kimoto, Alejandra Freymann, and Julia Spínola.
